Since joining The Community Foundation staff in 2006, Anna Hargrave has worked one-on-one with hundreds of Montgomery County donors, providing them with the tools, resources, and support to give effectively to the causes they care about deeply.
As the Executive Director for the Montgomery County office since 2015, Anna leads the foundation’s county-specific work around development of new funds, engaging donors, community leadership efforts, and expanding our visibility in the county. She also leads the Sharing Montgomery grant process which engages donors in discovering and vetting high-impact organizations empowering the County’s low-income residents to meet their basic needs and pursue pathways out of poverty. Additionally, in response to the pandemic, she worked with donor-leaders to launch the Neighbors in Need Montgomery campaign to provide direct cash assistance to families in crisis and the Food for Montgomery campaign to address the alarming spike in food insecurity.
Through her previous experience at the Office of the Montgomery County Executive, Montgomery Youth Works, and the Jewish Social Service Agency, Anna came to the foundation well-versed in program management, community outreach, and project development. She served on the Board of Directors for Leadership Montgomery, an organization which brings together current and emerging leaders interested in making Montgomery County a better place to live and work. She also served on the steering committees of the Beckner Advancement Fund and a small community theater (KUUMBA Players). A graduate of Kenyon College, Anna earned her BA in Spanish Area Studies and Drama.
