Founded with a vision to elevate the fan experience, MSE owns and operates several major professional sports franchises, including the Washington Capitals (NHL), Washington Wizards (NBA), Washington Mystics (WNBA), and Capital City Go-Go (NBA G League affiliate), along with their own media platform, Monumental Sports Network, that extends their reach across the region and beyond.

What truly distinguishes Monumental is its deep commitment to community impact alongside athletic excellence. Through the work of the MSE, its Foundation, its teams and the Leonsis family, the organization responds to evolving community needs—investing youth development, expanding access to sports and entertainment, and mobilizing resources in moments of urgency. Most recently, following the DCA tragedy on January 29, 2025, MSE's Legacy on Ice program raised more than $1.3 million to provide critical support to affected families and first responders, through partnerships with The Community Foundation and DC Fire & EMS Foundation.
