As nonprofit leaders in Greater Washington, Jeffery Tribble and Liz Schurgin are invested in improving and advancing their organizations—and themselves. This year, we’re excited to announce them as our seventh annual David Bradt & Alex Orfinger Nonprofit Leadership Awardees. Jeffery, President & CEO of Levine Music and Liz, Executive Director of the Greater DC Diaper Bank will each receive up to $15,000 to attend an intensive executive training program of their choice.
Launched in 2017 as a salute to former trustee David Bradt and his many years of service to our community, the David Bradt & Alex Orfinger Nonprofit Education Fund supports senior level nonprofit leaders in advancing their careers and leadership skills. Local business leader Alex Orfinger and Diane Tipton, David’s wife, established the Fund to surprise and honor David. In 2025, Diane chose to update the name of the award to also recognize Alex's contributions to the community.
Tonia Wellons, President and CEO of the Greater Washington Community Foundation, extends her congratulations to this year’s class:
“Congratulations to the 2026 awardees! We are thankful for all you have done and will continue to do to strengthen our community. The Community Foundation is so pleased to support investments in exceptional nonprofit leaders and support the Fund’s impact in our region. Our thanks to David for the inspiration, and to Diane and Alex for creating such a wonderful way in which to honor him.”

Under her leadership, GDCDB is building a DMV where every baby has diapers to stay clean, dry, and healthy — not just today, but for good.
She previously served as executive director of the DC Youth Orchestra Program, where she reversed years of funding loss, doubling the budget and tripling reserves, while creating life-changing experiences for students, including performing alongside Yo-Yo Ma.
Liz believes in the power of creativity to solve complex problems. An adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, she holds a BA and MM from Yale and an MM from Manhattan School of Music. An accomplished bassoonist, she has performed in over a dozen countries. She plans to use the Bradt- Orfinger Award to attend Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program.
