Our New Donor Portal Has Arrived!
We're excited to share that Foundation Cloud Community Portal, our new online fund portal, is officially live. You can now use Foundation Cloud Community Portal, which replaces Donor Central, to check your fund balance, recommend grants, track activity, and pull fund statements and giving history — all in one place.
This launch has been a long time in the making. Feedback received through our previous CEP Donor Perception Surveys made it clear that donors wanted a faster, more secure way to manage their funds, and that's exactly what we set out to build. Behind the scenes, we also upgraded our financial system to a cloud-based accounting platform built for nonprofits and foundations and added a new payment portal with enhanced security for collecting and storing financial information. Connecting these systems directly means we can process gifts and grant payments faster and more efficiently, so your generosity reaches the community without delay.
We know a new system comes with questions, so we've pulled together answers to some of the most common questions.
Our Donor Services team is also always available to assist. You can reach us at [email protected] or 202-955-5890.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to create a new account, even if I used Donor Central?
Yes. Everyone needs to register for a new account in Foundation Cloud Community Portal. Registration takes just a few minutes: visit thecommunityfoundation.spectrumportal.net/home or click “Manage Your Fund” from the top navigation menu of our website, then register using the email address on file for your fund.
What happens after I register?
Our team verifies each new registration before granting access, which helps keep your fund information secure. Approval usually happens within one business day, and you'll receive a confirmation email once your account is ready. In some cases, if the information you used to register does not match our records, you may also get a call from our team to verify your information and confirm your registration.
What is multi-factor authentication, and why do I need it?
Multi-factor authentication, or MFA, adds a second layer of security to your account. The first time you log in, you'll choose how you want to receive a confirmation code: text message, voice call, or an authenticator app like Microsoft or Google Authenticator. Once it's set up, the portal will ask for a new code any time your account is accessed from an unfamiliar browser. MFA is required for everyone, and you can change your method anytime under My Account.
How do I recommend a grant?
Grant recommendations can be submitted right from your Foundation Cloud Community Portal dashboard. Once you log in, select Recommend Grant under the Fundholder tab, and search for nonprofits using the Candid database.
How long does it take for a grant recommendation to be processed?
Once submitted, our team will conduct the necessary due diligence on your behalf to make sure the organization is a qualified public charity and does not fall under any restrictions. Grant recommendations are usually processed within 7–10 business days.
Please note that this process could be delayed if your fund has insufficient balance to cover the request or if the grant recipient does not meet our due diligence requirements. If a delay occurs you will be notified.
How are grants and payments processed?
The Community Foundation has launched a secure online payment platform using Blackbaud REPAY. The new platform strengthens how we collect, validate, and protect financial information before issuing grants or payments to nonprofits and vendors. It automates electronic payments for grants and invoices, which means payments are processed more efficiently and securely.
Please note that the payment process could be delayed if the nonprofit or vendor does not complete the validation process to get set up in the new system. The recipient will be contacted directly by Blackbaud REPAY to set up their preferred payment method and provide the required documentation.
Can I track a grant recommendation after I submit it?
Yes. The Saved Grant Recommendations page, found under the Fundholder tab, organizes every recommendation into four views: saved drafts you haven't submitted yet, recommendations currently in process, recommendations that have been paid, and any recurring grants scheduled to go out.
Can I see the full giving history for my fund?
Yes. The Grant History page shows every processed grant and lets you filter by name, date, geography, frequency, or amount. You can also export your grant history, or your fund’s gift history if your fund receives contributions from multiple donors, as a CSV file for your records.
How far back does my fund’s data go in the new portal?
We ported over seven years of fund history into Foundation Cloud Community Portal. If you need records from further back, reach out to Donor Services team at [email protected] or 202-955-5890, and we're happy to pull that information for you.
What if I need help getting started?
We’ve put together several resources: an introductory tutorial video and a Fundholder's Quick Start Guide covering registration, grant recommendations, and fund statements.
